Armory Road Reconstruction Project

Public Meetings 1, 2, 3 & 4 Complete along with Preliminary Traffic Trials

Morrison-Maierle has been selected to help improve traffic concerns on Armory Road between East 2nd Street and Dodger Lane. This project will aid in enhancing the City’s infrastructure to provide safe means of travel through the corridor.

The current roadway configuration poses concern for motorists, pedestrians, and adjacent homeowners. This project aims to address these challenges and offer a significantly improved transportation corridor that benefits all stakeholders.

Our project team recognizes that Armory Road is a collector street, and there is a need to improve the existing roadway geometry to prevent incidents at the hairpin turn located on Armory Road. There is also a need for safe pedestrian walkways.

A detailed traffic trial was conducted in 2024 simulating a raised center median.  The median was placed along the centerline of Armory Road through the curve.  Cameras and data collectors were used to monitor the area during this trial. The mock raised center median trial will assist in deciding which improvements will best serve the community.

In addition, public meetings were held at Whitefish City Hall in the Council Chambers Conference Room on 9/26/2024, 12/4/2024, 4/2/2025, and 7/24/2025.  Links to the presentations from these meetings are located on the right side of this page.
