The 2021 Municipal Election was held Tuesday, November 2, 2021. The voters of Whitefish were asked to vote for three positions for City Council, one Municipal Court Judge and to extend the 3% Resort Tax for an additional 20 years, thereby extending the expiration date to January 31, 2045. The results of the election are below.

Municipal Court Judge
With the recent passing of Judge William Hileman, Jr., the City is currently relying on support from neighboring seated judges. We are advertising for the appointed position with applications due November 10, 2021. The City Council will appoint the position through December 31, 2023.
Extending 3% Resort Tax to Expire January 31, 2045
Whitefish voters voted to extend the 3% Resort Tax to expire January 31, 2045. The result of this extension, the Resort Tax revenues to be used starting February 1, 2025 is as follows: 1) 25% for property tax relief; 2) 58% for the repair, maintenance, and improvement of streets, storm sewers, all underground utilities, sidewalks, curbs and gutters; 3) 10% for improvements and maintenance of bicycle and pedestrian paths and other park acquisitions, improvements, and equipment; 4) 2% for the maintenance and replacement of existing improvements of the Whitefish Trail with any amounts not expended within five fiscal years available for the maintenance of city bicycle and pedestrian paths; and 5) 5% for merchants' cost of administration.
