The City of Whitefish is conducting a rail corridor study focused on key rail crossings within the community. The study will emphasize four primary crossings:
- State Park Road
- Birch Point Drive
- Baker Avenue (Viaduct)
- East Second Street
The goal is to identify barriers to emergency services and wildfire evacuation, as well as mobility and access limitations these rail crossings may pose to businesses, housing, education, and recreational areas. This project is funded through a Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) grant and managed by the Whitefish Public Works Department.
